The culture here in the Waikato office is outstanding. We have some great banter and our partners definitely set a fun and friendly tone from the top. That’s not to say that we don’t work hard, but we definitely play hard as well.
I was fortunate enough to receive a PwC Scholarships through school, which guaranteed me a Summer Internship. After finishing my Internship it didn’t even cross my mind to apply for any other firms because I enjoyed my experience at PwC so much. The mix of talented and skilled people, great offices and interesting clients all appealed to me, as did the opportunity to work in New Zealand’s most highly regarded Professional Services firm.
At PwC, we work hard but we also have a huge amount of fun. I have made some fantastic friends, and met some great mentors who I hope to be able to draw on as I progress throughout my career. PwC has some of the best and brightest people in the New Zealand business community, and I hope that one day some of their skills and knowledge will wear off onto me.
In addition to the above, I get to travel around the country and work with clients from all industries and sizes. There isn’t a better way to learn such a wide variety of skills so quickly as in a firm like PwC.
I enjoy the variety that I experience at PwC. We always look for ways to add value to our clients, so we’re always looking at the bigger picture in everything we do, which I really enjoy. The people have definitely also exceeded my expectations in many ways. I was surprised at how much fun we have together both at work and in our own time.
As Grads, we’re dealing with senior management and directors in large organisations. This level of exposure is very valuable, especially when you consider that Grads working at their organisations have probably never met them.
The culture here in the Waikato office is outstanding. We have some great banter and our partners definitely set a fun and friendly tone from the top. That’s not to say that we don’t work hard, but we definitely play hard as well. Additionally, everyone here is proud to work for PwC which shows in their level of commitment towards their work and towards the firm.
I know that a lot of people apply for the Grad roles and Summer Internships, but don’t be put off by this, you might be exactly the person that they are looking for. So I recommend that you definitely give it a go. Getting a job at PwC is more than just what your grades are at University, people want to see what you can bring to the firm and its’ culture. Keep up all of your extra-curricular activities as well, it’s great to have something that you do outside of work.
