We tackle a huge range of business issues and complex commercial challenges to boost the performance of all sorts of organisations. So it’s not surprising we offer a variety of opportunities. We know you want to stamp your mark on the world and we’re here to give you the opportunity, support and confidence to do just that!
With our scholarship programme you’ll be off to a great start:
- $7,000 towards your university fees over the course of your degree
- a PwC staff member to mentor you during your study
- a paid Summer Internship to develop the foundation for your career
- access to business networks amongst the best and brightest minds in New Zealand at our social and scholarship events
- the opportunity to learn about what we do behind the scenes, so you can choose the career path that best suits you.
Our winners are chosen from hundreds of applicants around the country. To mark this achievement, scholarship winners and their families are invited to their local PwC office for a prize giving celebration. You’ll meet key PwC staff and past winners, receive a framed certificate and enjoy all the hospitality PwC has to offer.
Your PwC mentor will be allocated to you before you start your first year of university, and they’re a current PwC staff member who’s passionate about helping you develop the skills you need for your career. They’re there to provide information about PwC and the different career opportunities open to you, and help guide your Summer Internship choice. As most of our mentors are new Graduates themselves, they will have recently finished their degrees and will be able to give you guidance and advice throughout your years at university.
Get a head start
As a scholarship recipient, you have a fantastic career pathway ahead of you. We guide you through some of the most difficult decisions you’ll have to make at the start of your career. A Summer Internship is a three month job in one of our business areas: Consulting, Deals, Assurance, Private Business, Digital, Tax or Legal, and is part of your scholarship experience. This gives you a chance to see what life is like behind the scenes and what kind of career you can get into at PwC. Our best Interns also get the opportunity to join us in a permanent role once they’ve finished university – in one of our highly sought after Graduate roles.
The PwC Scholarship started in 2004 and we’re proud to have supported nearly 250 students in their higher education in the 12 years it has been running.
The programme has had several name changes over the years; it was originally known as the Career Assist Schools Programme. In 2007, this was changed to the PwC Aspire Scholarship Programme. In 2012, this was again revised to become the PwC Scholarship Programme, as it is known today.
In 2013, the Accelerate Programme was created. This programme is designed to provide mentoring support to students through their university years. The programme is run alongside the scholarship programme, and recipients are selected from the pool of students who apply for a scholarship.
The John Waller Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 as part of a joint initiative with BNZ. It provides three scholarships annually to University of Canterbury students. Applications can be made via the University of Canterbury website.
